How to play

Compete for Doxa while protecting Athens. If Stability reaches zero, everyone loses.

Prepare the assembly

Gather 4–6 players. Everyone begins with 4 Talent, 3 Doxa and 3 private Motions. Athens begins at 10 Stability. Play twice as many rounds as players. The Chair rotates by seat; everyone serves twice.

  1. Rumor and preparation. The Chair privately sees the Event. Everyone sees its assigned rumor and the Crowd. Everyone receives 1 Talent and draws a Motion if below five cards.
  2. Propose and reveal. Each non-Chair commits one affordable Motion or passes. Pay its Lobby cost immediately. All commitments lock before the Event is revealed. Relevant Motions take priority, then highest Lobby; equal proposals are randomly selected. Unselected cards return, Talent stays spent.
  3. Debate and negotiate. The proposer has about 60 seconds; shared negotiation follows for about 90 seconds. Politicians may transfer Talent. Transfers are final; promises are not binding. The neutral Chair advances manually.
  4. Secret voting. Each non-Chair votes YES or NO once. Reveal all choices together. Matching Crowd influence adds system votes. A tie passes. Passed relevant Motions grant their proposer reward and every YES voter an extra Doxa. Failed Motions cost the proposer 1 Doxa.

Resolve and survive

Apply Motion effects, then the Event bonus or consequence, then matching Crowd response. Aggregate Stability and clamp to 0–10. Chair gains 2 Doxa for a relevant passage without Stability loss, 1 for another passage without loss, loses 1 if Stability decreases, otherwise gains zero. Selected cards are discarded. Doxa may be negative.

Final assembly

If Athens survives, everyone secretly chooses one other leader. Each received vote awards 1 Doxa. Highest Doxa wins; remaining Talent breaks ties; equal Doxa and Talent share victory. Negotiate using your own call or in person. No automatic decisions occur when timers expire or players disconnect.
